Privacy Policy

What data Purvanchal Report collects, and why.

What We Collect

No login is needed to read. An anonymous cookie (pt_sid) is stored to cap advertising frequency; it holds nothing that identifies you. Your choice of the desktop or mobile version is also saved in a cookie.

Advertising

District and page context are used to serve advertisements and count them — no personal profile is built.

Android App

The Purvanchal Report app needs no account. It stores your chosen districts, saved stories and settings only on your phone. A random install ID (not linked to your name, number or contacts) is sent to us to count installs, cap how often an ad is shown and deliver notifications.

Notifications: if you allow them, Google Firebase Cloud Messaging gives the app a device token so we can send breaking news, district news and the daily round-up you choose in the app's Menu. You can switch each kind off in the app or in your phone's settings.

Advertising: some ad slots may be filled by Google AdMob, which can use your device's advertising ID and IP address to show and measure ads under Google's policies. You can reset or delete the advertising ID in your phone's Settings → Google → Ads.

We do not sell personal data. All data is sent over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Uninstalling the app removes everything it stored on your phone.
